21 September 17 - Betterbounce Director joins PIPA Board

BetterBounce Director Appointed to PIPA Leadership Group

Join us in celebrating this momentous occasion as our Director has been invited to become a permanent member of the PIPA Leadership Group (PLG). After years of advocating for increased industry information for manufacturers and its consequences for both manufacturers and operators across Europe, this invitation is a testament to the value that our company can bring to the inflatable industry.

As one of the largest manufacturers and hire companies in the UK, BetterBounce is excited to announce that our Director has been invited to become a permanent member of the Professional Inflatable Play Association (PIPA) Leadership Group (PLG). This appointment comes after six years of actively pushing for the distribution of industry information for both manufacturers and operators across Europe.

The PLG meetings are fully confidential, and while we are unable to share feedback from attended meetings at this stage, one of our main aims is to achieve transparent distribution of information to all manufacturers, regardless of size or prominence in the market or political status.

Including EVERYONE!

At BetterBounce, we believe that even the smallest companies manufacturing from home or for themselves have the right to receive any new or relevant information via the PIPA organisation in a transparent manner. We strive for change and improvements in the industry, starting by ensuring information is shared with manufacturers and not only limited to testing bodies and inspectors.

We hope that all testers, manufacturers, and operators can come together, sing from the same hymn sheet, and eliminate any "he said/she said" scenarios that are currently affecting hirers, operators, and their finances. By working together and making joint decisions on any so-called grey areas between manufacturers and testers, we can move the industry forward.

We are currently compiling a list of all known manufacturers and resellers and we would appreciate your help in creating an up-to-date list. If you would like to contribute to the list, please respond to this email directly or send us an email at info@better-bounce.co.uk for inclusion.

Join us in shaping the future of the inflatable industry and let's work together towards greater transparency and cooperation.

The Value of Inflatable Industry Contributions

While we did not opt to be part of the Register of Play Inspectors International (RPII) scheme, the PIPA organisation has finally recognised the value of our contributions to the industry. We are excited to be a part of shaping the future of the inflatable industry and hope to make a positive impact.

Transparent Information Distribution

One of the major goals of the PIPA meetings going forward is to achieve transparent distribution of information to all manufacturers regardless of size or political status. We believe that even the smallest of companies should have the right to receive new or relevant information via the PIPA organisation in a transparent manner.

Eradicating Miscommunication

By making information more accessible to manufacturers and operators, we aim to eradicate miscommunication between testers and manufacturers. Currently, there are large impacts on hirers and operators, which can be avoided if everyone is on the same page. We believe that we can start this process by putting an end to information being stopped with the testing body and inspectors.

PIPA - Testing and Tagging for Inflatable Play Equipment

To ensure that inflatable play equipment conforms to recognised safety standards, the inflatable play industry established the PIPA inspection scheme. PIPA is short for the ‘Professional Inflatable Play Association’. This scheme is supported by the HSE and is one of only two supported schemes.

The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) require all work equipment, including inflatable play equipment, to be inspected at suitable intervals, which is once a year for the inflatable play industry.

PIPA delivers improved safety for users, quality assurance and certified initial and annual inspections. Inflatable play equipment that is designed to be used by a member of the public for entertainment purposes either as a slide or for bouncing upon must be tested by a competent person, usually a PIPA, ADIPS inspector or the manufacturer of the product.
