20 July 2026 - Why Every Inflatable Hire Company Should Own a Digital Manometer

Why Every Inflatable Hire Company Should Own a Digital Manometer

If you hire out inflatables, whether they are traditional bouncy castles or sealed inflatable products, a digital manometer is one of the most important pieces of equipment you can own.

At Better Bounce, we've spent over 40 years designing and manufacturing commercial inflatables for hire companies across the UK. Alongside our huge range of inflatables, we also supply the essential equipment operators need to run a safe and professional business, from digital manometers and anemometers to blowers, repair materials and annual testing.

Why is a Manometer So Important?

Every inflatable is designed to operate at a specific internal pressure.

If the pressure is too low, the inflatable may become soft, unstable or fail to perform correctly. If the pressure is too high, unnecessary strain can be placed on the seams and materials, potentially reducing the lifespan of the inflatable.

A digital manometer allows you to accurately measure and record the internal pressure, ensuring every inflatable is inflated to the manufacturer's recommended operating pressure before customers begin using it.

The 2022 HSE Guidance Update

In June 2022, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) updated its operational guidance relating to inflatable amusement devices.

One of the key messages reinforced within the guidance is the importance of monitoring inflatable operating pressures and weather conditions throughout an event, together with maintaining suitable inspection records.

The guidance also reinforces the importance of proper supervision in accordance with BS EN14960.

You can read the official HSE guidance here:

Many professional operators now include pressure checks as part of every delivery alongside their annual testing, anchor inspections and pre-use checks.

Airflow vs Sealed Inflatables

Traditional bouncy castles and sealed inflatables operate very differently.

Airflow inflatables are constantly supplied with air by an electric blower, whereas sealed inflatables rely on being inflated to the manufacturer's recommended pressure before being sealed.

Examples include:

  • Inflatable games

  • Inflatable pools

  • Sports arenas

  • Water inflatables

  • Promotional inflatables

  • Interactive games

Every product has its own recommended operating pressure, making a digital manometer one of the easiest ways to ensure your inflatable has been set up correctly.
